W.A.S.T.E - The Anchigamin Lake Simcoe Film Project

WASTE | FILM SCHOOL | FILM FESTIVAL | CONFERENCE

What is WASTE ?

Living in the Lake Simcoe Watershed...

WASTE Films is a project which calls on the youth of the Lake Simcoe Watershed to open our eyes and minds to how we are carrying out our everyday lives. Their short films move us to question what kind of future we want for ourselves and the generations to come. They also provoke us to look at the very nature of our mental, emotional and social environments, as reflected by the state of Lake Simcoe.

it begins with the youth...

WASTE Film School

This summer 64 teens from around the Lake Simcoe Watershed attended a mobile WASTE Film School to make a series of short films to explore ideas about the 'environment' - the physical, economic, cultural, and social influences that affect our future, our water and Lake Simcoe. The film school traveled to the ‘four corners’ of the watershed: Georgina, Orillia, Bradford/Newmarket and Barrie to explore the fullest definition of the word environment.

WASTE Film Festival

The WASTE Film Festival is celebrating the young filmmakers work and sharing it through local Film Festival events around the watershed and around the world through an on-line Film Festival. The first event took place on October 1 Anchigamin Gala at Cineplex Silver City Newmarket. Film Makers Festivals are being organized in key schools around the Lake Simcoe Watershed. An on-line Film Festival has now been launched. Four films are currently being premiered. Stay tuned for more films and scenes from the Anchigamin Gala.
